X marks the spot. I staked out the location of new trees.

I spent a bunch of time planning the project. I knew from the start I was going to over plant in order to reach my privacy goal in a few years rather than 10 years, but I still measured the distance between the trees, distance from the property lines and maximum heights of the plants at maturity.

All in all, I did my homework. This led me to create a huge shopping list for my shrub purchases. Some people get excited about going to buy things at Home Depot. For me, going to a huge plant nursery is like being a kid in the candy store again. Me and my Dad traveled to a huge nursery in Rhode Island where I could buy the plants at whole sale prices.

You know what's running through my mind. "I only have done this much so far"

"Now I'm thinking, oh god exactly why am I doing this?"

I'm in the front yard at this point rototilling the beds for the two pine trees.

I think I was feeling pretty proud at this point, but in reality I had only scratched the surface. This was the easy part.
